Why a Croatia sail is overrated?

Don’t get us wrong we don’t  have anything against Croatia, but these days it struggles with the over mass tourism and demand for sailing. If you aren’t aware of the carpe diem situation in Hvar this year  I suggest you reconsider your choice of Sailing destination. We feel it can still be a very enjoyable experience however we know from resources we think you will enjoy sailing Turkey even more.

The difference between Sail Croatia and a Turkey Sail

The Groups

Traditional Croatia sail involves around 40 people on a boat for either 4 or 7 days, we know this sounds like a fun idea however its rather difficult to get to know everyone’s names by the end of the week, people tend to form cliques which already creates a bad atmosphere on the boat.  In Turkey our boats can a

accommodate from 10 to 20 people which we find tends to help groups bond better. It also makes the boat less crowded which means more space for the sundeck and relaxing.

The Food

A traditional Croatia Sail normally includes breakfast and lunch and then docks in the port so you grab dinner in the local port. This is great it means you can get off the boat and try some more of the local cuisine however some of these restaurants can be a tourist trap and is extra costs to your trip. With a Turkey Sail all meals are included as well as a afternoon tea, coffee and cake. This is defiantly more value for money as well we find most guests enjoy the food so much on the boat they feel sad knowing they have to cook for themselves again.

The Swim stops 

We know the reason why everyone choses a sailing trip is for the beautiful swim stops. We cant deny the Adriatic sea is as beautiful and crystal clear like they say. However some swim stops on sail Croatia can only be 1 hour per day. this can be very frustrating as the weather is more or less over 30 degrees in the summer and all you are wanting is a dip in the sea to cool you down. The Port Situation

Due to most Croatia Sail boats tend to have the average age between 18 to 35 that like to party, port authorities are very strict if there are noise complaints, parties and music can get shut down as early as 9;30pm. This has left boats not allowed to port in the main town but port in a smaller more remote port away from town, where there are no restaurants, no bars or much liveliness.  This is also due to the sheer amount of boats they have in the summer and that creates mass tourism and overcrowding in some ports which is why they will opt for the boats to go to further away ports from the town.
